Climate Change Adaptation
Host
About me:
-
I am an Environmental Engineer with 35 years of experience working on Air and Water Quality issues.
-
Throughout my career, I have been witness to countless unnecessary conflict that has lead to either over protecting or under protecting our environment.
-
In order to achieve advances and innovation in our economic balance with nature, a greater awareness of developing issues must take place; sans vested interest.
What I've observed:
-
As an Environmental manager, I am aware that the foundations of environmental management and regulation (some 40 plus years ago) are in pollution control of "primary" pollutants. These include Sulphur Dioxide (SO2); Nitrogen oxides (NOx), particulates; Hydrocarbos (HC); etc. Carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) - both greenhouse gases - are not among them.
-
There are no standards for CO2; nor are there any standards for adapting to Climate Change.
-
The nature of Climate Change, leading to Extreme Weather Events, leading to a need to adapt to those Events, is an environmental management challenge like no other.
-
The issue is complex; yet simple. There is no one cause; and no one solution.
-
There are a plethora of web sites and opinions on this issue.
Goals:
-
One goal is to collect, illustrate, and link to well supported scientific information that appears to best illustrate the issues of climate change and climate change adaptation.
-
A second goal is to use quality, clear and concise information, and piece together a story that will illustrate that we can, and must find a better way.
-
A third goal; is to connect you to this issue, to bring awareness to the issue, to engage in a modified vision of the historic view.
